Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, recently inaugurated the 36th edition of the Saudi Agriculture exhibition. Organized by Riyadh Exhibitions Company Ltd., the exhibition kicked off on Oct. 8 and concluded on Oct. 11. The event coincided with the Saudi AgroFood and Saudi Food Pack Exhibitions, all at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center.
Al-Mushaiti said the exhibition offers “the perfect opportunity to reinforce communication between government agencies and entities operating in the agricultural and food sector.”
“It also enables the exchange of experience between the participating parties and showcases the latest innovations in agriculture, irrigation and packaging,” he added.
Al-Mushaiti said the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture is focusing on the sustainable development of the agricultural sector to achieve water and food security.
He also shed light on the incentives and loans offered by the Agricultural Development Fund.
“Under the leadership of King Salman, the government has been giving a lot of attention to the agriculture sector, and so far more than SR50 billion ($13.3 billion) worth of loans have been pumped into the market, contributing to the improvement of this sector ... The ministry has been working very hard to improve and develop areas that have a positive impact on the farmers and the food security of the Kingdom,” Al-Mushaiti said.
The exhibition brings together some of the largest local and international companies every year. It has become a major platform to review the latest products and technologies in the world of agriculture and related industries.
More than 350 global and local exhibitors from 29 countries took part in the exhibition this year, in addition to the nine international pavilions of China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Greece, India, Poland, Holland, Turkey and the UAE.
The event also covers the latest innovations in animal health and its mechanisms, beekeeping and honey production, agricultural funding, products and services, animal breeding, chemicals and fertilizers, cold storage and crop production, dairy products and equipment, feed and additives, and packaging systems.
Throughout its 36 years, the exhibition has reinforced its position as a specialized tradeshow contributing to and supporting the development of the agriculture sector in Saudi Arabia.
